Random Blah

Well, Fall has certainly found its way here. I am so happy to see the temperatures dip a little and the beautiful colors of the changing leaves. This is one of my favorite times of the year. I love looking out over nature and seeing its changes. It makes me feel content and introspective.

Today happens to be Halloween, but for the children of this county they are either lucky or deprived depending upon how you look at things. The who's who of this county decided that Halloween should be celebrated in all the communities on Tuesday the 30th instead of the 31st because of evening church. Now don't get me wrong, I have nothing against those that attend church during the week, but come on people what is the big deal. I would bet that most of those that were out last night wouldn't be in church tonight anyway. Regardless, all but one community in our county celebrated last night, so the girls dressed up and hit the streets in search of candy and fun. Tonight, Emily gets to do it all over again because our nice neighbor is going to be celebrating tonight.

There was quite the writeup in the paper over the whole celebrate a day early thing and the writer asked that if Christmas falls on Wednesday, does that mean we have to celebrate a day early so as not to interfere with church? Makes you wonder what people are thinking these days.

Emily is trying out for the Archery Team at school. She seems really excited about it, and since she decided not to play basketball then it gives her something to do. She needs to work on her upper arm strength so I be thinking that she can pack some buckets at chore time with me :)

Tori left for Louisville for the Beta Convention today. They are staying at the Galt House and she says it is a really nice place. She needed a costume for the Costume Ball that is being held up there and she is going as a Fairy. She is just growing up so fast. It makes me sad sometimes to think about how quickly time is going and she will be away from me so soon. She really does want to stay close to home she says, so that is a good thing.

Emily has decided not to go to Canada this summer and Tori would rather do an Art camp than the People to People thing, so we are in limbo about it at the moment. I was rather upset knowing Emily's group was in Nashville and we would be having to travel down there every month for the meeting, so she decided she wasn't really ready to go and would rather wait until she is older to go. Tori is deciding this week about whether to still go on the P2P trip or just stay home this summer.

All the calves have been shipped off to Nebraska. We took them last week and starting tomorrow we will run all the cows through and give them their shots and preg check them. We will also decide who is going to market. The weather is supposed to be wonderful all week, and so running them through will be quick (we hope)

I signed up for some more BPS classes yesterday. They are offering 2 different year long classes and I decided to do both of them. The first will be taught by Wendy Smedley and will be from Jan-Mar and deal with content from her new book. The other is taught by Tena Sprainger and is really 2 classes in one if you want it to be. It is a book club with a monthly reading list and there will be discussions and what not and the other part of the class is making Handmade Books. I thought it would be fun to try my hand at making the books and so I will at least try January's class out. It is a month by month thing so you don't really have to do it all year if you don't want to.

Well, I guess it is time to run the Amish to town again.
