What a day

yesterday was wild. It started raining about 8 in the morning while Dad and I was out doing the chores. It was really only a little bit of a sprinkle, and knowing that the big rain was supposed to hit later in the day we hurried to check on cows and get in where it was dry. Well, by about 10 it was really coming down and didn't let up much until about 4 in the afternoon. We ended up getting about 3 inches. The fields were just running in sheets of water, the ponds were overflowing, cows and babies headed for higher ground, it was neat and scary at the same time. I had to go out in it to do the afternoon chores and to check on one cow that we were sure was going to calve. Sure enough, she had a boy.

Today we had 8 babies. Funny how the weather plays such a big part in then cows finally get into gear. When it gets cold, the labor pains hit. Luckily we have had no troubles and we are about half way done.

I have been busy trying to keep my resolution of stretching my creativity. The LOAD challenge over at Big Picture Scrapbooking is going good. I am staying caught up and really enjoying it. I am also enjoying the Handmade Book club taught by Tena Sprenger. This is the first class I have been able to take of hers, and I am having so much fun. I have gotten my first book most of the way finished, just waiting for my package from Scrapbook.com. I need my needles and wax linen thread to sew it up. I am really liking the way it turned out. I still have to add what I want to the inside pages, and put some sort of title on it, but I am loving the colors of the paper.

I decided to add one more ongoing project to the mix to keep my creativity going. I found a challenge to alter a deck of cards over the coming 52 weeks, and I figure I can handle doing a card a week. I have got to sit down and get busy doing the first card which is to put down my New Years Resolutions, and then the 2nd week is a favorite quote. This is something that I think I can really have fun with.

I try to do several of the weekly/monthly challenges online at various different blogs, and One Little Word is one that I think that I will try to keep up with. I figure I may not get them done on time to post, but I think that spending time pondering each word could really help me see inside myself more. That is something that I am really wanting to do this year.

"Life isn't about finding yourself, Life is about creating yourself"

Not sure where I found this quote, or who wrote it, but I have it written down in front of me as I sit at this computer, and it gives me just the boost I need to kick life into gear.
