A Good Day

A Gaggle of Geese! These are geese that the neighbor have. I took this picture a month or so ago. They are funny to watch.

Today has been a really good day. I got up early and went to check on my cows and feed mineral. I left the house at about 6:30, piddled around talking to all the girls and the babies. I managed to get a few of the bulls moved out, they are not where they need to be yet, but they are closer.

I got home around 12:30 or so, I had stopped by Mom's to pick up Tori, and ended up making a big batch of hummer food and filling 8 feeders, rounding up endless bags of trash to bring over to the dumpster. I need to go back over and mow the lawn and fill up the seed feeders.

Talk to Mom, she sounds tired, but refuses to come home and needs me to stay here and get things done. I don't mind, I just hope that she doesn't wear herself out down there. Seems Dad is working hard at therapy and doing well. He is extremely tired, and the visiters just seem to keep rolling in. I managed to keep a few of them home today to let him rest, but who knows who else showed up down there.

The weather is almost perfect. About 80 degrees with a slight breeze. Feels really good outside. Will and Emily tried out the new smoker today. Will did a Brisket, Ribs, and Shrimp. The smell is out of this world delicious, and Em claims that it is the best meal that Will has ever made. I haven't tried it yet, but the smell is wonderful! He did really well for a first time smoker!

I finished my book "Real Women Scrap" today. It is a book that really makes you stop and think. Now I will have to dig out something else to read :) Tori is engrossed in HP7. She says she isn't putting it down until she is done, and she is half way there. Emily says that it is to good to read, which I know makes no sense, but I bet she won't be able to put it off for long once school starts. For Amber it will be a little harder for her to get to it. She is always busy working or something and never seems to have time to read anymore.

I have had it with some members of my family. They are selfish and rude, and only think of themselves. They haven't been down to visit Dad, and have only called a few times. They quit working for the farm since they couldn't do what they wanted when they wanted, and Mom finally got fed up. They are not indispensible, and they are replaceable. They are constantly trying to make trouble. I know that they will get theirs in the end, and I am more than willing to sit and wait. I have no more use for them at all, and I feel sorry for them. They have many regrets that they have to live with in their lifetime.

Enough about that. On to happier things! School starts on August 1. The school clothes and supplies are bought and labeled and ready to go. Both Tori and Em are excited about school. Seeing their friends again and meeting new teachers. Amber is getting really excited about starting college at WKU. I think it starts on Aug 27th. She is taking 18 credit hours, which is a bit much for her first semester, but she is living in the dorms and has already been emailing her new roomie. The two of them seem to have alot in common, and I think that they will become good friends.

I will be glad when a routine of sorts is in play again. At least I will be able to tell someone what day of the week it is!
