Ice Storms, Power Outages and Prom Dresses

Okay, so I had this posting all done and it got lost somewhere in blogland, so here it goes again.

I have a slideshow going in the sidebar that shows the pictures I took this past week of the ice and damage that we got. Our trees really look bad and we haven't started the cleanup yet, but at least we are all safe and sound.

Saturday I came home to check on things and work around the farm feeding and getting wood for the folks which pretty much took allday. Will had stayed in Bowling Green, Emily was at her older sisters house and Tori was at work. I finally got back to the house about 4pm and was so glad to see the lights outside were on. The line crews were working so hard to get power to us and I am forever grateful for them working around the clock.

I can honestly say that this past week makes me really appreciate home, family, and modern conveniences. Things like hot water, lights, tv. We read as much as we could and we played games the first 2 nights by oil lamp and candles but we were all going a bit stir crazy. Not to mention that a cold shower just wasn't in my plans. Still isn't and since our hot water heater decided to go on the fritz yesterday and still seems to not want to work after changing out both elements. I have my fingers crossed that it is just taking some time heating up 50 gallons of water and not a complete loss.

Now, don't you know that when the girls are with Will's mom Carol, shopping is on the agenda. They hit the mall and came home with several nice outfits and after a trip to a very nice consignment store that has prom & wedding dresses Tori came home with the prom dress of the year in my opinion. She is going to knock the sox off of somebody!

Well, off to boil some water I guess!
