October!!!

I love this month. I love the changes in the world around me. I love the crispness in the air and the colors!!!! It makes me wish it could stay like this longer.

The past few days have been a bit on the hectic side. The kids are out on Fall break so there is that whole boredom issue to contend with, and the Will comes home from work on Monday just miserable and sick. I ended up taking him to UrgentCare early Tuesday morning to find out that he had a temperature of 101 and has "some kind" of infection. They ruled out Strep, Bronchitis and Pneumonia but have nothing else to go on. He is feeling some better today with antibiotics and cough medicine. He stayed home from work again today to rest.

Today I took my dad to see a spine doctor at Vanderbilt in Nashville. He has seen him before and gone through some shot therapy that was needed before they would consider doing surgery. Nothing has worked so far, so they have set a date to do a lumbar spine fusion in early December. Now you would have to know my dad to know just how much pain he must be in to even consider surgery voluntarily. He is deathly afraid of needles so this is a first for him! He apologized for not being able to help out this winter because of the recoup time, but I told him I would rather he get the surgery and start feeling better than to worry about what is coming up on the farm.

After spending time catching up on emails and stuff, I started reading through the blogs that I love to read everyday, and there is one that I just have to comment on. Stacy Julian in truly a remarkable person. I have never met her in person but I have been lucky enough to have taken several of her classes online at Big Picture. I also have spoken to her on the phone late in August. I find her inspirational in all ways, and she issued a challenge as a last assignment for the Have More Fun class that has been going on for the last 3 months. The challenge is to take 10 pictures of you life at this moment and put them into little scrapbook and then put it into a drawer or a purse or somewhere that you will run across it over the next year. On October 1, 2009 blog about it and the changes. Now although it is really close to my bedtime today I have managed to scrounge up some pics that I have taken over the past few weeks that kind of signify my everyday and I will put them into my own little scrapbook.

My next class on Big Picture starts tomorrow. Design Your Life with Cathy Z starts bright and early, and wouldn't you know I haven't done the "pre-class" assignment yet. I have all the stuff as far as the paper and such but I have failed to put it together. For some reason I kept thinking I had more time, and like always time has slipped away from me. Seems to be a recurring thing with me as I age. Must be that "almost 40" thing! Gotta go work on that!
