Warm and Windy Today

The weather in Kentucky is probably some of the strangest weather around. The saying is "If you don't like the weather in Kentucky, just wait 5 minutes." It is so true. Yesterday was mild and in the lower 50's. The wind picked up over night and the temps have been hear 70 but the wind is about 60 mph. Hang on to your hats! Plus the rain, when it fell, was basically falling sideways because of the strong winds. It did clear off this afternoon and the sun came out but as dusk falls the dark ole' rainclouds are moving in and the temps are supposed to fall down to freezing. YUCK!

Had a wonderful surprise on Vday. My darling hubby bought me a Journey diamond necklace and the most beautiful peach colored roses (he knows I don't like the red ones). He was waiting at the kitchen table with the camera to catch my reaction and let me tell you I was most definitly surprised. It is gorgeous and I love it and even though he didn't need to do it, he said he did it because he likes to buy me nice things every once in awhile. What a guy!

Yesterday we took Emily to her Super Saturdays and then did some shopping and some visiting. Tori and Amber had stayed up all night the night before, so 2 grumpy and tired teenagers didn't make for much fun, but we did get to visit with Will's mom for awhile. We dropped Em off at my folks' house when we got home.

Today we basically have wasted an entire day. I am not entirely sure where it went. I did start packing up my scrapbooking stuff and purged another big pile of paper. Still have lots to do there. I also took all my rubber stamps apart and threw away the blocks. I plan to make them like clear stamps. Then next big purge is all the books I have collected over the past few years. I am a sucker for books, and when I first started scrapbooking I thought I needed everyone of them (at least the 4 shelves seem to indicate that) I figure that I will try and sell the books somehow once I decide which I want to get rid of.

After the room gets gutted we are going to be putting down new flooring. We picked out some nice looking wood laminate awhile back and we just never went and bought it. We can do both the rooms we want for around $1 sq ft. I hope to get it next week and get it down so that while my scrap space is tore up I can rethink the way it is set up. We also plan to do the floor in the computer room, luckily for us it is really just a square room and should be really easy to do. The hardest part will be getting 2 computers with desks, an oak bookcase, an oak armoire, a file cabinet and another smaller bookcase out of the room, the carpet tore up and the new floor put down without having all that stuff clogging up too much of our living space. I really wouldn't even bother putting new flooring down as the original floor in this room is oak, but the idiots who previously owned this house glued down the ugliest linoleum to it and I cannot get it to come up, so we will just cover it up.
