For the Love of Geese

This time of year is such a fun time. I love watching the grass grow, the trees finally get their leaves, flowers are blooming, and the Canadian Geese that have been around for a few weeks are right outside my house with their little broods.

We actually have 4 pairs this year but only two are mature enough to have had babies, and so the remaining 2 pair have about a dozen little ones between them. They are a little hard to spot because the grass is tall enough to hid them, but when they go for a swim it is so fun to watch.

In years past we really have only had one mating pair that would move around between about 3 ponds that are closeby. This year though, we have had at least a pair on each pond. There are 11 ponds on the farm. That makes for alot of quackers!

I haven't been able to get close enough to get any pictures. I doubt I will. They are quite protective of their little broods and I value my life! I watch a gander dive bomb a calf the other day for following them too close. I think I will just have to have you imagine the cute little buggers!

Well, off to make some more cards for our troops.
