Family Fun

Yesterday we took a little trip to Nashville to spend the day as a family. Our first stop was for lunch in Mt. Juliet (a little east of Nashville and the airport) at Red Robin. The girls had never eaten there before, and the burgers are soooo good that it was worth the time. After eating we went to Books-A-Million and wandered around for awhile. None of us really needed any new books as we had each brought along one in the car (Emily had 3). Tori started her book in the morning and was more than half finished with it by the time we got home and she only read while in the car. That girl is one fast reader let me tell you!

After walking off lunch we headed over to Opryland and the ICE! show. This was to be the last year for the Grinch and we were all excited about seeing it. I love going to these types of events because the pictures you can take inside are fantastic. I had brought along my new Canon but decided that I would rather use the little point and shoot that we gave Emily last year (poor girl rarely gets to use it!) since I was comfortable with it.

This is the first picture I took as we walked into the building and through the frigid doors.

The girls were not really thrilled about having to pose together at every opportunity, so I tried to get some of them individually also. At the temps in there you had to think very warm thoughts. I still came out with frozen ears, nose, and fingers! Way too much fun!

There were two different slides set up in about the middle of the attraction. There were quite a few people there and we spent a little time at each "spot" trying to get pictures taken. For the most part everyone was cordial and friendly. This picture of Will and I was taken by Tori. Can you believe the reality of the Grinch? I tell you those people know what they are doing when it comes to doing ice sculptures.

This was actually the first Grinch you came to after walking it. He looks rather menacing don't ya think?

All in all we had a great day. After finishing up and thawing out we headed over to Opry Mills Mall and wandered around. There were some great sales in just about every store if you were in the mind to shop, but we were really only there for one thing. Build-a-Bear. Tori had made up her newest one online and had him named and all. They had come out with another penguin critter and she dressed him in red lumberjack plaid and named him LeRoy Jenkins. What that kid can come up with. Needless to say her birthday is the 17th of this month and so it was kind of an early birthday. She will be 17 this year. Where is the time going?

These are so cool! When you said you were going to see the Grinch Ice, I thought it was an ice skating show ... but this is way cooler!
