What a combination huh! Well, it kinda is a long story but I will try to make is short. We live in an old farm house that originially was only a basement house. Sometime 60+ years ago a stick built home was added above the basement. It was only 4 rooms plus a really small bathroom, which was probably added as an afterthought from the layout.
Anywho, oak hardwood floors were put down thoughout, which I love. The last owners for whatever reason put down the ugliest linoleum flooring ON TOP OF THE HARDWOOD in the kitchen, bathroom and what we use as the computer room. Since moving in 12 years ago things have changed alot. New kitchen, somewhat new bathroom, no carpet in the living room and we just tore up the carpet in Emily's room only to discover that the lovely flooring underneath had been termited sometime in the last 60 years.
We thought we could salvage most of the floor and only replace a couple of boards, but I found out yesterday that the damage was worse than we thought and so the whole thing has been tore out. Now it is just a black, tar looking mess. Luckily we had planned on replacing the carpet in the computer room with laminate flooring and have enough to do Em's room. A little construction/deconstruction on the closet and we will be good to go. It always seems that projects in this house snow ball really fast. My advice, tear down old instead and replace with something else because you end up wishing you had in the long run.
Now on to the Freedom portion of this post. Today is a day that every eligible American needs to take advantage of. Voting is a right we enjoy in this country and this years election is crucial and historical. I proudly voted at 7am this morning. I am anxious to see what the outcome is tonight and will be glad that it will all be over (hopefully) tomorrow. I think that "who" you vote for is a personal and private thing, but the act of voting should be exercised by every eligible person.
